The Dirty Dozen

Have you been hearing about The Dirty Dozen in restaurants lately, but don’t know what it’s referring to? The simple answer is that there are 12 fruits and vegetables that you want to make sure are organic, whenever possible, due to their high pesticide content.

Here they are…

  • Strawberries
  • Spinich
  • Potatatoes
  • Pears
  • Cherries
  • Grapes
  • Celery
  • Sweet bell peppers
  • Nectarines
  • Tomatoes
  • Peaches
  • Apples

These fruits and vegetables have the least amount of pesticides:

  • Asparagus
  • Mangos
  • Cabbage
  • Eggplant
  • Honeydew
  • Onions
  • Kiwi
  • Cantelope
  • Cauliflower
  • Broccoli
  • Frozen sweet peas
  • Avocados
  • Pineapples
