I am Cassandra and I was diagnosed with Hashimotos Thyroiditis in 2014 after several years of dealing with severe fatigue, brain fog, depression and anxiety. The title Amidst The Fog is a direct correlation to the brain fog I experienced. Brain fog results from the inflammation and nutrient deficiencies that come with autoimmunity. It affected my decision making process and the ability to retain and comprehend information. It was the nuisance that made navigating through Hashimoto’s much more of a challenge. But even with that added challenge I was determined to put this blog together to assist others through the painful process.
It took me several years before I found an appropriate doctor, accurate diagnoses and the right tools to help me through this healing journey. Once diagnosed I became 100% committed to treatment. I have accumulated hundreds of hours of my own research as well as education from my doctors over the past 6 years. I believe that the many trials and errors I experienced could benefit others. A blog platform seemed the best way for me to get the word out in order to help others navigate through…amidst the fog.

I’m a native Arizonan that has grown to love the warmth and landscape the desert provides. My favorite past time is riding my beach cruiser into old town Scottsdale with my husband Bill, of 18 years, and indulging at the paleo friendly restaurants and coffee bars. On most days you will find me perfecting recipes at home, hanging out with my two pups, or perusing through local farmers markets for delicious organic foods.
